Black and White Wednesday

I've been seeing this one around and been dying to enter it.

the long road

The only problem that I'm running into is that I never can decide on which one I would like to enter. So I guess I'll follow my gut instinct ( it isn't always right, but I follow it anyway). So the first one is for the contest the others are just for show. I hope you enjoy.

Black and white may not be typical for shooting lavender, but I thought that the ones that I shot in color were uninspired. All of these shot were shot in black and white, with very little editing.

I absolutely love lavender. The smell is so soothing. My husband laughs because all of my cleaning supplies are lavender scented. I remind him of how much I hate to clean house, and that the smell calms me and keeps me focused on the task at hand.

Lavender is a staple in my garden.

I also love to cook with lavender, although my hubby doesn't care for it. One day I'll have to share my Lavender cream phyllo pastry with lavender syrup. It is absolutely delicious.

I would never have thought to convert these shots to black and white but it totally works. Absolutely beautiful.

Ashley, thanks. In college I was totally in to b/w photography. Occasionally I get struck by one of those moods. I love the fact that now I don't have to wait to run out of film, or cautiously switch film. Now all I have to do is change the settings on my camera. I love digital!

Wow are these beautiful. I agree with Ashley... I don't know if I would have thought to shoot these in b&w. I do agree that the digital age is awesome. You don't have to choose anymore.

What a cool new way to look at lavender. It really makes me notice it in a whole new way!

I love lavendar! The hotel we stayed at for our wedding/honeymoon smelled of lavendar! So everytime I smell it now, it reminds me of that wonderful time & place :) And I agree with the rest, these really do work in B&W. Sometimes, I find that a pic is "blah" in color and then it looks amazing in B&W!! Sometimes it's the other way around...really depends on the mood you want to convey!

Thanks, I took quite a few in color. Although I thought they were good, there was nothing special about them, kind of "a dime a dozen". Thank you everyone for stopping by my blog and commenting.

Thanks for stopping at my blog again! I am going to follow, because I really love looking at your blog.

Gorgeous photos! My mom loves lavender, too, and I have so many photos of her plants. I never thought to make them black and white, so I will have to try that tonight.

I have a half dead pot of lavender that I try my best to keep alive.
I love the black and white you did. Adds great interest.
I'm your new follower.

Glad you joined in this week. Your pictures are beautiful! I'm going to have to see if there is a setting on my camera to actually shoot in black and white. I shoot in color, and then put the photos through my editing software. I love all the different effects. Thanks so much for checking out my pictures and commenting. Looking forward to seeing some more of your pics :)
